Your Career as a
Glazier
Apprentices will be taught all the necessary work skills including but not limited to the safe handling, cutting, preparation, and installation of all types of glass or products used where glass would normally be installed or replaced. Examples include but are not limited to interior or exterior partitions, curtain wall, skylights, storefront, protection and or security applications. Other skills include work involving fabrication and installation of extruded metal tubes, metal facing materials, window wall and curtain wall construction.
In addition to the general requirements, all applicants for the Glazier apprenticeship program will be required to pass a math test.Apprentices will receive training in the following areas but not limited to:
- CPR/First Aid
- OSHA Health & Safety
- Fall Protection
- Blueprint Reading
- Labor History
- Proper and Safe Use of Power Tools
- Proper and Safe Use of Hand Tools
- Welding
- Product Knowledge
- Jobsite Safety
- Layout
- Caulking
- Math
- Swing Stage
Glazing apprentices will learn the safe and proficient use of trade equipment such as, glass cutters, putty knives, hack saws, drills, chisels, hammers, screw drivers, files, caulking guns and pry bars. Power tools may include drill motors, rotor-hammers, chop saws, screw guns, welding equipment and glass lifting apparatus.
Wages
Beginning apprentices receive a percentage of journeyman wage including full health coverage and other limited fringe benefits that increase with each progressive step in the Program. Apprentice wages increase every six months as they complete a combination of on-the-job training hours along with passing credit for classroom and hands-on training at our training facilities until they become a journeyman at the end of the program. Other Requirements
Apprentices must possess sufficient educational knowledge to satisfactorily complete on-the-job training and related technical instruction. A high school diploma or GED equivalency is required. Applicants must be at least 18 years old. There is no maximum age limit. More Information Here.
