Your Career as a
Highway Striper
District Council 16 Highway Stripers are crafts persons trained through a State of California Certified Apprenticeship & Training program.Graduation to Journeyman level requires 3 years of combined classroom and on-the-job training which covers:
- CPR/First Aid
- OSHA Health & Safety
- Fall Protection
- Blueprint Reading
- Labor History
- Proper and Safe Use of Power Tools
- Proper and Safe Use of Hand Tools
- Basic Craft Skills, Methods and Techniques
- Flagging and Traffic Control
- Mechanical Lifts & Scaffolds
- Job Safety
Highway Striping apprentices will learn the safe and proficient use of trade equipment and be trained in the application of paint and various coatings.
Wages
Beginning apprentices receive a percentage of journeyman wage including full health coverage and other limited fringe benefits that increase with each progressive step in the Program. Apprentice wages increase every six months as they complete a combination of on-the-job training hours along with passing credit for classroom and hands-on training at our training facilities until they become a journeyman at the end of the program. Other Requirements
Apprentices must possess sufficient educational knowledge to satisfactorily complete on-the-job training and related technical instruction. A high school diploma or GED equivalency is recommended. Applicants must be at least 18 years old. There is no maximum age limit. More Information Here.
